12-Tin Pie Safe

The Pie Safe is a piece of Americana Furniture.  Built from necessity for storing foods before modern storage methods, the pie safes were totally a utility piece.  The tins were punched to allow air flow, much discussion surrounds whether the sharp side was placed inward or outward, but today, for safety reasons, we always place the 'grate' side inward.

In this series, you can build along with Charles as he shows step by step how he builds this unique, 12-Tin Pie Safe, a reproduction of one he remembers seeing as a child in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

We encourage you to post any questions or comments you have at the end of the video clips.
