Your Bombe Box Photos
These photos have been sent in by woodworkers who are members of the 'Mastering Woodworking with Charles Neil' weekly show. In the most recent project series, Charles showed step by step how to make the 'Bombe' box like he made for the throwdown over on Lumberjocks.com.

I finally got around to complete the bombe boxes. I've had the wood since Charles did the show (at least the wood was well acclimated) It was a fun build and not as hard as what I thought. The one without feet my wife didn't go for the feet, so I amputated it's feet the only thing that got hurt was my feelings oh well can't please everyone next time I'll ask before going thru all that work. Now I have four lonely feet now I'll have to build another box to put the feet on. The beautiful wood came from from Bob Kloes, I can't say enough about his wood. Thank you Charles gang for the webosodes and Bob Kloes for the wood -

Always wanted to make large cove moldings using the table saw, but never had a project requiring this technique . So thinking about it, the bombe box sides, is similar to one large cove molding! This project was a good balance of hand and machine work. Was economical to build and I get a ton of complements along with folks asking if I can build them one. The other cool thing, you can knock these out pretty quick. In my build no contrasting woods were used. General Finishes stains and dyes were mixed by my own hands to achieve that personal touch. Everything from dyes and stains to topcoat was spray gun applied. Thank You CNW for satisfying my woodworking habit. A great build and skill tester. No regrets....keep on rocking! -

I just wanted to say I completed the bombe box after buying and watching your video. I can't believe how much I learned, and how much I enjoyed building the box. You are an amazing instructor Charles. I wish I could send you a photo. I just posted it on Lumberjocks today and it received the "top 3" of the day. Much credit goes to you for the design and instruction. Thanks again, and my daughter thanks you (who got the box today). Don Albrecht -

Mr. Niel, My box was a big hit at the wedding. I gave you all the credit. I don't know if I got you any new members but, a couple people wrote your name down. I enjoyed viewing the other boxes. Well done. -

Thanks a ton for taking us through this. My wife has claimed this one, but I'm sure the next ones will be eaisier! I know the feets are tucked in too far but sanded the tops down to widen them and caused that. Live and learn, I guess. Take care and thanks again. Joe P.S. I used the table saw at a really close ange to make the cove in my feets and it worked fine. Littele more apt to kick but worked gradually so was ok. j -

I completed the Bombe Boxes March 7, 2012. I had to build three as Charles told on the show. I did not make the first Birthday date of the three, but made the other two. I build them as described in the show. The most challenging part was doing the cove for the box. This was the first time I made a cove on the Table Saw. The materials were Curly Maple from Bob Klose and Walnut. The finish is several coats of Generals Arm-R-Seal, a light coat of Generals Golden Oak Stain, and several more coats of Arm-R-Seal. The only change is I made the Brass catches for the bottom of the box. Little projects are very hard, because there is no room for errors. -

Hi, Sherri, Attached are some photos of the bombe box I made my mom for Christmas. I also made a video of the build posted to my blog here: http://www.halfinchshy.com/2012/01/no-comment-1.html It was a fun build and the results were worth the effort. I'll make more of these in the future... without a camera dogging me around :) Happy New Year! Paul-Marcel -

Sherri - Attached are the pictures of the two Bombe Boxes that I recently completed. One is tiger maple with walnut and the other tiger maple and cherry. Enjoyed the build and am looking forward to the spice cabinet. Ron -

Hi Charles and Sherry and Camera Girl, Happy New Year, This is my daughter's Christmas present, didn't get done on time. Well it's been a struggle, but I'm nearing completion. first of all It's significantly smaller, I did a lot more 'just sneak up on it' than anticipated. If you made a T shirt that said 'don't ask me how I know that I'd be the first buyer, cause, boy do I know that. Had to modify the top design because it all got too narrow. It's been fun and thank you -
