Signature Series - Table Saw Insert for Dado Blades
The insert comes with three oak filler strips. There are adjustment screws for both leveling and side play adjustment. The inserts are made of solid 1/2" aluminum and signature engraved. You may purchase additional wood strips sized for your insert or make your own.
To insure fit, here are the measurements (again, they are 1/2" thick). The Delta measures 13 3/8" long at its longest point and 3 3/4" wide. The SawStop measures 15 15/16" long at its longest point and 4 1/2" wide. The Jet measures 15 5/16" long at its longest point and 4 1/4" wide. Important!!!Check sizes before you order, the inserts may be exchanged but you will be responsible for the shipping charges both ways. Again, make sure you are ordering the correct insert for your saw.
Now, while this is designed predominantly for a dado, by using an 8" blade to insure it goes below the insert to make the initial cut, you can make a zero insert for your regular table saw blade as well. Follow the photos below as I do it on my table saw.
Power the saw on and slowly raise the 8" blade through the wood strip.
In this shot, I have lowered the blade so that you can see the cut in the wooden insert. Next I will remove the 8" blade and replace it with a 10" blade. Then secure the insert again before continuing.
Just like I did with the 8" blade, I powered on my saw and slowly raised the 10" blade to complete the cut. That's all there is to it.
